My Honey Bears...

Today was the first day of school and it was an EARLY morning at the Hill house. I wish I was more of a morning person. It would make life so much easier.

Of course we had to get to school a little early for some pics. Taylor and Averi were just thrilled to be taking more pictures :) Not really, they think it's annoying!

We waited and waited and finally the bell rang. Connor and I walked Averi to her room and helped her get settled. There were name tags for all the kids to wear, then we found her spot on the floor. She was brave and held back her tears and so did I...barely. I gave her a big hug and kiss and forced myself to walk away.

Taylor was big and didn't need me ((sigh)). I went to her room anyway and gave her a hug and kiss. I stuck a little prizes and love notes in their bags for them to find so they would know me and Chad are thinking about them. I also have prizes for after school! The first day of school should be special :)

And just to prove that Connor does love other things besides jewelry here is a pic of him and Chad leaving Toys R Us with some goodies. He could play ball all day every day!

Ready for a Routine...

We have had a lot of fun this summer, but I am soo ready for a routine. I function way better with a plan and a tight schedule.

So Taylor is excited about starting 3rd grade. She got the teacher she wanted, Mrs. Peel! She is also taking piano lessons every week and will start dance again after sitting out last year. She even gets to be in Jazz for the first time!

And Averi is ready to start Kindergarten. I can't believe that I will be dropping off both of my girls everyday all day. She will also be in dance.

I am still debating about whether or not to put Connor in KDO. He has so much fun there, but I am liking the idea of saving some mulah. Look how long he looks in this picture. My baby boy is growing up!

I take my last two classes at Tech this fall before student teaching in the spring. And I just found out that I
passed my first certification exam. Yay!! One down, one to go!

Just because...here is a fun little picture from last weekend. We were at Seth and Stacy's and decided to walk to Gelatto's for a change of pace. It was fun. After ice cream Seth and I bolted across 82nd to grab a drink from United. Chad and Stacy stayed with the kids by the side of the road. As we were walking back this is what it looked like! Chad said he felt like he was waiting for the citibus with Stacy and their five kids :)

Miss My Family...

This past June marked the 10th anniv of my grandfather's (mom's dad) death. He died just before Chad and I got engaged. He never had the chance to meet our kids, but he would have loved Taylor, Averi, and Connor. I remember he would always kiss the top of my head and slip me a $20 when we would say goodbye. I sometimes still have dreams about him.

My cousin, Kate, and I used to stay with my grandparents for a week in Shamrock every summer. Jack (we always called him by his name) would leave early every morning to meet his other farmer friends for coffee. He would come home every day for lunch (soup and crackers) while he watched a western. And Mema had dinner ready every night when he came home from working the land and the cattle. Kate and I would have fun sneaking Mema's cigarettes from her (the hole we burned in her curtain is still there to this day) and walking to town for a little shopping.

Well through the wonderful technology of the internet and social networking sites like fb I am able to keep up with family that lives far away. Today I was chatting with Theresa, one of my aunts, and we were discussing the last time we all got together. Connor wasn't even born yet...and Averi wasn't even two. I guess I didn't realize just how many years it had been. It made me sad to know that we haven't made more of an effort. It's crazy how days turn to months, and months to years so quickly.

So we decided that it was time to reunite! Hopefully everyone will be able to come to Lubbock this fall like we used to for a Tech football game and a little 50 Yard Line food!

For some reason when I think about Jack I remember this picture. This is how I remember him...smiling and happy. He was a good ole' man!
